About The Band

Scott Emmerman

Holden Thorp

Lou Sawyer

Terri Houston

Scott Warren, the newest member of the band playing bass (replacing Steve Allred), is a recent transplant to Chapel

Hill. Terri Houston adds a soulful vocal style

whose roots and sound stem from artist styles as

diverse as Ella Fitzgerald and Bonnie Raitt.

Lou Sawyer’s smooth saxophone work is

sometimes reminiscent of Paul Desmond, other

times sounding similar to the interpretive style

of Wayne Shorter. Scott Emmerman’s fluid

guitar playing adds a jazz-rock influence, brining some funky atmospherics as well as spirited solo work to the collective sound of the band. Spence Foscue on drums and Holden Thorp on keyboards creates a solid base from which Equinox launches its musical journeys into swing, blues and funky jazz.

Scott Emmerman has recorded and performed with Time Weisberg, Walter Jackson, Bobby Womack, Treeborn and Cher among others, and his composition “Wheelchair Ballet” was featured on “China Beach, Music and Memories,” a soundtrack album from the ABC television series.
